Love is all we have.

Time is slipping through my fingers in a way I can’t control. My grandpa—one of the greatest loves of my life—is nearing the end of his journey. The man who helped raise me, who celebrated me in ways no one else could, who made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. I wish I could pause time, stretch every moment, hold onto him forever. But I know that’s not how life works.

I can see myself as a little girl, looking up at him, thinking my Papa was my superhero. He was invincible in my eyes, the strongest, most loving person I knew. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have to be strong because I am losing him. But here I am, holding onto every second, trying to be half as strong as he has always been for me.

As I look back through old pictures and videos, I see him. I hear his laugh, I remember his warmth, and I feel the love that has never wavered. And as I do this, I see so many other faces—people who have walked this life with me, who have shaped me, who have given me pieces of themselves so that I could become who I am today.

If there’s one thing I have learned, it’s this: Take it all in. Be with your people. Love them loudly. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Capture the moments, but don’t forget to live them, too. Because time doesn’t wait for any of us.

I would give anything for more time, for one more conversation, for one more story told by my grandpa. And while I can’t make time stand still, I can promise this—to him, to my Gran, to my sisters, to my friends, to every soul that has ever meant something to me: If I had the choice, I would do it all over again with you. Every single moment, every high, every low, every laugh, every tear—I would choose it all. Because that is what love is to me.

To be truly loved by someone is to be seen, cherished, and held in a way that makes you feel like you matter beyond measure. It is knowing that your presence is a gift, that your existence brings light into someone else’s world. Love is the safety of being accepted as you are, without condition, without hesitation. It is the deep, unwavering connection that transcends time, distance, and even loss. Love, in its purest form, never leaves us—it lingers in the stories we tell, in the lessons we carry, and in the way we continue to show up for the people who mean the most.

So, to whoever is reading this: Look around at your people. Hold them close. Say what you need to say. Be present. Because one day, all we will have are the memories—and I want mine to be full of love, of laughter, of the people who made this life worth living.
