we had a place in that garden.

There was a time when it all made sense.

Where we were, what we were doing, who we were with—it felt like the right place, the right people, the right version of us. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked. It fit. And when something fits, you don’t always question it.

Until one day, you do.

There’s a quiet shift that happens when you start wanting more for yourself.

Not in a selfish way, but in a way that says, “I’m ready to grow.”

And that’s when it gets hard. Because growth doesn’t always come with clear directions. Sometimes it means walking away from people who used to feel like home. Sometimes it means rewriting the version of your future you thought you wanted. Sometimes it means feeling alone before you feel aligned.

It’s a weird age.

You’re young enough to still feel lost, but old enough to know that staying stuck isn’t an option.

You start noticing what no longer feels good in your body. What conversations drain you. What spaces shrink you. And you start asking yourself, “Is this who I want to be?”

And maybe the answer is no.

Maybe the person you’re becoming doesn’t belong in the same places anymore.

Maybe the version of you that existed back then needed those people, that routine, that comfort—but the version of you now? She’s reaching for more.

It’s okay to outgrow.

It’s okay to change your mind.

It’s okay to want something different—even if you can’t quite name it yet.

You’re not broken for leaving. You’re not cold for outgrowing.

You’re becoming.

And just because something once felt like your place, doesn’t mean it still is.

You’ll find a new place. A new path. A new version of yourself that makes more sense than anything you’ve ever known.

And when you get there, you’ll understand:

you didn’t lose anything.

You just finally made room for what’s meant for you.

Holding onto the thought that we will never get there because we are already there.

My favorite quote as of right now,” There’s a version of you 10 years from now begging you to enjoy where you are a little more.”

Hang in there. I am cheering for you.

So much love,

Emi Sue
